Overview
- Nationwide electronic assemblies are being held for Caixa employees with votes scheduled to finish at 18:00 on Monday, Sept 21, and unions say the outcome will determine whether the strike that began on Sept 10 ends.
- The strike started after more than 90% of union bases rejected an earlier bank offer, according to Contraf-CUT, prompting the nationwide work stoppage that began on Sept 10.
- The bank’s revised Saúde Caixa proposal would set titular contributions at 3.7% of base pay from 2027, impose monthly dependent fees by age bracket (for example R$560 for direct dependents), and cap family contributions at 9%.
- The offer also lowers emergency-visit fees from R$150 to R$120, preserves telemedicine without copay, commits at least one dedicated Saúde Caixa staffer in each HR unit, and makes no 2026 penalties for the Figital and Genesys pilots.
- Caixa included changes to its Super Caixa variable-pay program and a conditional R$3,000 extraordinary bonus tied to exceeded operational targets, and the vote’s result will affect employees’ out-of-pocket health costs and the bank’s ability to resume normal operations.
