Overview
- Caixa opened sales for the special Mega da Virada contest on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, and said the jackpot is expected to exceed R$1 billion with bets accepted through 22:00 on Dec. 31, 2026.
- The official draw is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2027, at 11:00 at the Espaço da Sorte in São Paulo and the Mega da Virada prize does not roll over to later draws.
- Prize distribution rules reserve 90% for six-number winners (sena), 5% for five-number winners (quina) and 5% for four-number winners (quadra), with the pool shifting down if a higher tier has no winners.
- Players can place a simple six-number bet for R$6 at more than 13,000 lottery outlets, on the Loterias Caixa website or app, or via Caixa Internet Banking for account holders, and must be 18 or older with a valid CPF to play online.
- Group betting (bolão) is available with 2 to 100 quotas and up to ten bets per receipt, and last year’s record prize and system strain that delayed the draw highlight the risk that heavy traffic could affect this year’s retail and digital operations.
