Caixa Begins FGTS Releases for Birthday-Withdrawal Workers, First Deposits Up to R$1,800

A new government measure frees R$7.8 billion for up to 14.1 million people, with payments finishing in February 2026.

Overview

  • Automatic credits start today for those with suspended or terminated contracts from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 23, 2025, prioritizing bank accounts registered in the FGTS app.
  • Caixa says 87% of eligible workers have an account on file and needed an active registration by Dec. 18 to receive the transfer directly.
  • Workers without a registered account can withdraw at Caixa branches, lotteries, ATMs, or Caixa Aqui points using the Citizen Card, PIN, or biometric authentication.
  • Exceptions include accounts with judicial blocks for alimony and casual workers, who must present specific documents at branches.
  • The remaining balances will be paid in a second wave from Feb. 2 to Feb. 12, 2026, and in cases of termination by mutual agreement withdrawal is limited to 80%, with existing loan assignments potentially reducing the amount available.
