Cadbury and Maltesers Shrink 2026 Easter Eggs as UK Prices Rise

Manufacturers cite higher input and supply-chain costs for the changes.

Overview

  • Early checks of 2026 Easter ranges show several big-name eggs are smaller than last year, with some reduced by up to about 18%.
  • Maltesers’ extra-large egg falls from 231g to 194g with Tesco’s price rising from £6 to £7, and the set now includes two 37g packets instead of three.
  • Cadbury’s extra-large Twirl egg drops from 241g to 218g and switches from two full-size bars to two small fingers, as Tesco’s price increases from £6 to £7.
  • Lindt keeps pack sizes unchanged but raises prices, with the 200g Gold Bunny moving from £5.50 to £7 and the 100g version from £3.50 to £4.25.
  • Mars Wrigley and Mondelez point to higher cocoa, dairy, energy and transport costs, while the British Retail Consortium notes brands drive size decisions and says cocoa prices have started to ease.
