- Acting police minister Firoz Cachalia said National Commissioner Fannie Masemola acted inappropriately by publicly announcing the return of 121 PKTT dockets to KwaZulu-Natal before providing the report he had requested.
- Masemola’s report to Cachalia recommended reestablishing and nationalising the PKTT, and Cachalia said he is pursuing that course in discussions that include Gauteng’s premier after recent councillor killings.
