Cable Theft Disrupts ParisLyon High-Speed Line as SNCF Works Overnight to Restore Service

SNCF expects a return to normal traffic Friday morning following overnight repairs.

Overview

  • SNCF identified stolen signalling cables in Bourgogne as the cause of failures that strongly disrupted traffic in both directions on the LGV Sud-Est.
  • SNCF Voyageurs reported delays up to two hours, with the Paris Gare de Lyon board showing individual trains late by more than three to four hours.
  • To keep trains moving, some services are being rerouted over the conventional line, leading to extended journey times and altered stops.
  • Repair teams completed a technical diagnosis and are working through the night after an initial estimate for normal operations around 15:00 was pushed to late evening.
  • SNCF Réseau told AFP that trains continue to run and that normal service is anticipated to resume Friday morning.
