Overview
- Phase-1B covers an 11.165 km East-West corridor from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj with 12 stations—seven underground and five elevated.
- Upon completion, Lucknow’s metro network will expand to about 34 km from its current 23 km North-South line.
- The route cuts through Old Lucknow’s commercial hubs, heritage areas and King George’s Medical University to ease congestion and improve access.
- Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, a joint venture of the Union and state governments, will implement the project at an estimated cost of ₹5,801 crore.
- Construction is slated to begin next month and finish within five years pending timely tendering and contracting.
