Overview
- MSPs for six rabi crops are fixed for 2026–27: wheat ₹2,585/qtl, barley ₹2,150, gram ₹5,875, lentil ₹7,000, rapeseed–mustard ₹6,200, safflower ₹6,540.
- Safflower sees the biggest absolute hike of ₹600/qtl, followed by lentil ₹300, rapeseed–mustard ₹250, gram ₹225, barley ₹170, and wheat ₹160.
- The government projects procurement of about 297 lakh tonnes in the rabi season with ₹84,263 crore to be paid to farmers at MSP.
- Estimated margins over all-India weighted average production cost are wheat 109%, mustard 93%, lentil 89%, gram 59%, barley 58%, and safflower 50%.
- A ₹11,440 crore Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses runs from 2025–26 to 2030–31 to drive self-sufficiency via area expansion, improved seeds, processing units, and assured procurement by NAFED and NCCF.
