Overview
- The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses will run from 2025–26 to 2030–31, with media reporting the outlay at Rs 11,000–11,440 crore.
- For the next four years, NAFED and NCCF will provide up to 100% procurement of Tur, Urad and Masoor for registered farmers under PM-AASHA’s Price Support Scheme.
- Seed and research interventions include ICAR oversight, SATHI-portal tracking, multi-location trials and distribution of 126 lakh quintals of certified seed plus 88 lakh free seed kits.
- Area under pulses is slated to expand by 35 lakh hectares by targeting rice-fallow and other diversifiable lands, supported by intercropping and crop diversification.
- By 2030–31, targets include 310 lakh hectares under pulses, 350 lakh tonnes of output and yields of about 1,130 kg/ha, aided by 1,000 subsidized processing units and monitoring of global prices.
