Overview
- The Mokama–Munger four‑lane greenfield section (82.4 km) will be built under Hybrid Annuity Mode at Rs 4,447.38 crore with a completion target of about three years.
- Designed for a 100 km/h top speed with average speeds of 80 km/h and closed tolling, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time on the route to roughly 1.5 hours.
- The Bhagalpur–Dumka–Rampurhat rail line will be doubled over 177 km across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal at Rs 3,169 crore to relieve a saturated single‑track section.
- Indian Railways projects an additional 15 MTPA freight capacity serving 441 villages and about 29 lakh people, with estimated savings of roughly 5 crore litres of oil and 24 crore kg of CO2.
