Cabinet Clears Rs 6,957-Crore NH-715 Upgrade in Assam With 34.5 km Kaziranga Viaduct

The plan centers on an elevated stretch designed to reduce animal–vehicle collisions during seasonal flooding in the national park.

Overview

  • The Cabinet approved widening the KaliaborNumaligarh section to a four-lane, 85.675 km corridor to be executed under the EPC model.

  • MoRTH officials said the Kaziranga design was prepared in consultation with the Environment Ministry, NTCA and the Wildlife Institute of India.
  • The alignment will link NH-127, NH-129 and SH-35 and improve access to three railway stations and three airports to strengthen regional connectivity.
  • Officials outlined a three-year construction period and estimated 15.42 lakh person-days of direct and 19.19 lakh person-days of indirect employment, with top leaders publicly endorsing the move.
