Overview
- The Cabinet approved widening the Kaliabor–Numaligarh section to a four-lane, 85.675 km corridor to be executed under the EPC model.
- The project includes a 34.5 km elevated crossing through Kaziranga, 30.22 km of at-grade upgrades, and greenfield bypasses near Jakhalabandha (11.5 km) and Bokakhat (9.5 km).
- MoRTH officials said the Kaziranga design was prepared in consultation with the Environment Ministry, NTCA and the Wildlife Institute of India.
- The alignment will link NH-127, NH-129 and SH-35 and improve access to three railway stations and three airports to strengthen regional connectivity.
- Officials outlined a three-year construction period and estimated 15.42 lakh person-days of direct and 19.19 lakh person-days of indirect employment, with top leaders publicly endorsing the move.
