The approvals launch a five-year, jointly financed build program to increase capacity and cut delays.

Overview

  • Pune Metro Phase‑2 adds Line 4 and Line 4A spanning 31.636 km with 28 elevated stations at an estimated cost of ₹9,857.85 crore, targeted for completion in five years.
  • Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha‑Metro) will implement the Pune corridors, with surveys and detailed design already underway and integration planned with Lines 1 and 2 plus an interchange at Hadapsar Railway Station.
  • The CCEA approved Devbhumi Dwarka (Okha)–Kanalus doubling over 141 km and BadlapurKarjat third and fourth lines over 32 km, together costing about ₹2,781 crore.
  • BadlapurKarjat will provide dedicated suburban tracks up to Karjat and complements the ongoing Kalyan–Badlapur quadrupling, which had reached about 30% physical progress by October 2025.
  • Across four districts, the rail projects add roughly 224 km, improve access for about 585 villages with a population near 32 lakh, and are projected to enable 18 MTPA of additional freight while reducing oil imports by ~3 crore litres and CO2 by ~16 crore kg.
