The Bihar decision moves to implementation, with Punjab projects at the sanction stage pending land transfer and final clearances.

Overview

  • CCEA approved doubling of the 104‑km BakhtiyarpurRajgirTilaiya section in Bihar at ₹2,192 crore, adding capacity on an oversaturated corridor.
  • The Bihar upgrade is slated to handle an additional 26 MTPA of freight and is projected to save 5 crore litres of oil and cut 24 crore kg of CO2, benefiting about 1,434 villages and 13.46 lakh people.
  • The RajpuraMohali rail link in Punjab was announced at 18 km and ₹443 crore, framed to cut journeys by about 66 km and decongest the RajpuraAmbala route.
  • About 54 hectares must be acquired by the Punjab government for the RajpuraMohali project, with initial works planned to remove engine reversals near Rajpura once land is handed over.
  • A Firozpur–New Delhi Vande Bharat service has been proposed to run six days a week with a 6:40 journey time, but it lacks a firm launch date and has been described as cleared in principle.
