- Set to become the Northeast’s second IIM and India’s 22nd, the institute will join Guwahati’s existing flagship central educational institutions.
- A 76.83-hectare plot at Marabhita village near Guwahati has been earmarked for the permanent campus.
- IIM Ahmedabad has been appointed mentor institute to prepare the detailed project report in coordination with Assam’s higher education department.
- Assam will provide a temporary campus to start classes this year, and a Bill to formalize the institute is slated for introduction in Parliament later this month.
