Following controversial social media posts referencing the Israel-Hamas war as 'genocide,' CAA agent Maha Dakhil has resigned from her leadership roles at the agency, including her position on the CAA internal board and co-head of the motion picture department.
Despite stepping down from these posts, Dakhil will continue representing major A-list clients such as Tom Cruise, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, and Anne Hathaway while embarking on a personal education process regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Dakhil's social media comments, initially posted in 2023 october, included re-posts of statements such as 'You’re currently learning who supports genocide' and 'What’s more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide? Witnessing the denial that genocide is happening.' These posts were later deleted.
The controversy arose since the comments were interpreted by some as a harsh criticism of Israel, leading to Dakhil's subsequent apologies where she stated she had been 'reeling with heartbreak', further expressing gratitude for Jewish friends and colleagues for pointing out the implications of her reposts.
CAA has publicly distanced itself from Dakhil's comments, releasing a statement reaffirming their support for Israel, the Jewish community, and all innocent victims of terrorism.
