BYU Starter Kennard Davis Jr. Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Provo Crash

BYU says it is reviewing the case under an honor code that forbids alcohol use, with penalties up to dismissal.

Overview

  • Provo Police said the two-car crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. Thursday at 900 West and Center Street, where officers arrested the 20-year-old on suspected DUI.
  • Davis was taken to the police station for further investigation, cited with DUI, released for treatment of minor injuries, and his vehicle was impounded, according to authorities.
  • A police spokesperson said the other driver did not need to be transported to a hospital.
  • BYU said it is looking into the matter, and the program has not disclosed whether Davis traveled to Boston or will be available against No. 3 UConn on Saturday.
  • The Southern Illinois transfer started BYU’s first two games and is averaging about 9.0 points after missing Tuesday’s win with Achilles soreness.
