Overview
- Bye Aerospace announced it will power the two-seat eFlyer 2 prototype with magniX’s Samson system, targeting a first flight in early 2026.
- AVweb reports this marks the first use of Samson batteries on a fixed-wing training aircraft.
- magniX claims the system offers high energy density, more than 1,000 full-depth discharge cycles, and patented safety technologies, which were not independently verified in the coverage.
- Bye Aerospace says the trainer will feature an all-composite structure, Garmin avionics, planned FAA Part 23 Amendment 64 spin resistance, and a whole-aircraft parachute.
- The order follows magniX’s July partnership with Robinson Helicopter on an electric R66 and the company says Samson is scalable to defense and stationary energy storage applications.
