Overview

  • BYD published onboard and VBox video on August 26 showing a peak of 472.41 km/h recorded during an August 8 attempt at Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany.
  • The Track Edition uses a mass-produced 1,200V architecture, upgraded thermal management and four motors that BYD says push output beyond 3,000 PS.
  • Yangwang credits its DiSus-X active suspension, aerodynamic add-ons and custom Giti semi-slick tyres for maintaining control at extreme speed.
  • PistonHeads reports driver Marc Basseng eased off as the car began to drift from its intended line near top speed.
  • Reports note there was no official adjudication of the run, with the recognized EV top-speed benchmark remaining the Rimac Nevera R at 268 mph.
