BYD Unveils Vehicle-Mounted DJI Drone System for EVs in China

The new Lingyuan system integrates a DJI drone with BYD vehicles, offering advanced features like in-motion launches and AI-powered video capabilities.

  • BYD has introduced the Lingyuan drone system, developed in partnership with DJI, for its electric vehicles in China at a price of 16,000 yuan (approximately $2,200).
  • The system includes a roof-mounted drone docking station, a DJI drone (shown as the Air 3S in videos), and apps for AI recognition and video editing.
  • The drone can take off and land while the vehicle is moving at speeds up to 25 km/h (15 mph) and follow the car at speeds up to 54 km/h (33 mph).
  • Lingyuan is available as an option on select BYD models, including the Sealion 07 DM-i hybrid and the Tang L electric SUV, and is pre-installed on a version of the Bao 8 SUV.
  • The launch highlights BYD's strategy to compete in China's competitive EV market by offering unique, high-tech features to attract customers.
