BYD Unveils $14bn AI-Powered Smart Car System to Rival Tesla

The world's largest EV maker aims to integrate advanced features like automated parking and hands-free driving in its future models.

BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) maker, has unveiled its AI-powered Xuanji smart car system, part of a $14 billion investment in smart car features.
BYD's new system includes features such as automated parking, voice recognition, and hands-free driving, aiming to rival Tesla's AI capabilities.
BYD plans to integrate a host of smart features into its EVs in the coming years, including 'Navigate on Autopilot', similar to Tesla's 'Autopilot', and a vehicle-mounted drone for its luxury SUV.
BYD has more than 90,000 employees in its research and development departments, with over 4,000 of them working on smart driving.
Last year, BYD sold more than 3 million new energy vehicles, including pure EVs and plug-in hybrids, a year-on-year increase of 60 per cent.
