BYD Sets New Floor for EV Prices in Australia With Atto 1 at $23,990 and Atto 2 at $31,990

Pre-orders open now, targeting December deliveries to push EV prices below many petrol city cars.

Overview

  • Atto 1 is offered in Essential (30 kWh, 65 kW, 220 km WLTP) and Premium (43.2 kWh, 115 kW, 310 km WLTP) trims, using LFP batteries on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0.
  • Atto 2 launches as Australia’s cheapest electric SUV with a 51.3 kWh LFP battery, 130 kW/290 Nm motor, 345 km WLTP range, and Dynamic ($31,990) or Premium ($35,990) grades.
  • Pricing undercuts rival EVs and even several similarly sized petrol and hybrid models, including BYD’s own Dolphin by $6,000.
  • BYD confirms a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty, with features such as over-the-air updates and V2L available.
  • Safety testing is pending with ANCAP for these variants; the Atto 1 holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2025 while the Atto 2 has not yet been assessed.
