BYD Confirms Denza B5 and B8 Plug-In Hybrid SUVs for Australia in November

BYD will market a curated selection from its Fangchengbao, Yangwang, Denza lines under the single Denza banner in Australia.

  • The five-seat B5 targets Toyota Prado-sized SUVs, while the seven-seat B8 is aimed at Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Nissan Patrol rivals.
  • Locally, BYD will consolidate premium models from Fangchengbao and Yangwang under Denza to simplify its upscale offering.
  • Both SUVs use a body-on-frame chassis with BYD’s DMO plug-in hybrid architecture and adjustable air suspension for off-road capability.
  • Manufacturer claims cite the B5 with a 1.5-litre turbo plus twin motors (505kW/760Nm, about 100km EV-only, WLTP range up to 1020km) and the B8 with a 2.0-litre turbo plus twin motors (550kW/760Nm, 0–100km/h in 4.8s, about 100km EV-only, WLTP up to 984km).
  • Right-hand-drive testing has been seen in Australia and media have driven prototypes, while pricing, final specifications and dealer network details will be announced closer to launch.
