Burst Water Main Floods Marylebone, Shuts Westminster Magistrates’ Court

An early-morning water main failure left the courthouse without water.

  • London Fire Brigade received the first of multiple calls around 5.20am and sent eight engines and about 60 firefighters.
  • Flooding covered roughly a 200m by 100m area around Enford Street and York Street, affecting basement flats.
  • About 14 residents from ground-floor and basement properties were evacuated as a precaution.
  • Traffic restrictions are in place on Marylebone Road, Seymour Place, Crawford Street and Gloucester Place, and the public was advised to avoid the area.
