The incident occurred in September 2018, with the lawsuit being filed in 2019.
The settlement was reached in late August 2024, just before the trial was set to begin.
Burlington's insurance carrier paid $140,000, while the city contributed $75,000 to the settlement.
Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak emphasized the importance of reviewing police practices to ensure de-escalation and minimal use of force.
