Burbank Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Assaulting Officers During Capitol Riot

William Lewis used wasp spray and a stolen police baton to attack officers and damage property during the January 6, 2021, Capitol breach.

William Lewis, 58, of Burbank, Illinois, was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release for assaulting law enforcement during the January 6 Capitol riot.
Lewis pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers and was ordered to pay $3,761 in restitution.
During the riot, Lewis sprayed wasp killer at officers on four occasions, causing injuries that required immediate treatment, and threw the empty can at them.
He later stole a police baton and used it to smash three panes of a Capitol building window on the Lower West Terrace.
More than 1,583 individuals have been charged in connection with the Capitol breach, including over 600 for assaulting or impeding law enforcement, with investigations ongoing.
