Bungie Unveils Marathon Gameplay and Sets September 23 Launch Date

The sci-fi extraction shooter reboot will feature PvPvE combat, cross-platform play, and an alpha test starting April 23.

Marathon, Bungie's reboot of its 1990s classic, will launch on September 23, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with full cross-play and cross-save support.
The game combines PvPvE combat with tactical looting, where players control cybernetic 'Runners' in teams of three or as solo operators on the abandoned colony of Tau Ceti IV.
Bungie revealed gameplay details, including dynamic maps, unique Runner abilities, and a seasonal narrative structure to expand the game's lore over time.
A closed alpha test is scheduled to begin on April 23, 2025, with sign-ups available through the official Marathon Discord channel.
The game will feature vibrant visuals, Bungie's signature gunplay mechanics, and a mix of AI and player-controlled threats in its competitive extraction missions.
