Bungie Sets Dec. 2 Launch for Destiny 2: Renegades, Unveils Star Wars–Style Frontier and Loot Changes

Bungie is positioning the release to rebalance Power growth and revive fireteam play after months of Portal-focused solo grinding.

Overview

  • The expansion, created with Lucasfilm Games, introduces the Lawless Frontier across Mars, Europa, and Venus with the Tharsis Outpost social hub and unlockable Renegade abilities for co-op contracts.
  • Players will wield the Praxic Blade, a customizable lightsaber-like melee weapon, and a new Blaster energy pistol archetype with distinct mechanics.
  • Portal scoring is being overhauled by sunsetting most featured-gear bonuses and allowing all Exotics to count where the feature remains, making legacy activities viable for Power progression again.
  • Raid and dungeon drops will start at Tier 3, with a planned system to upgrade Legendary weapon tiers and an increase to Vault capacity, though exact upgrade currency and storage size are still to be detailed.
  • Today’s Ash & Iron update is live with the Reclaim three-player activity and a refreshed Rewards Pass, an Epic version of The Desert Perpetual raid arrives Sept. 27, a new Exotic mission lands Oct. 7, and Bungie is pausing noncritical nerfs while planning phased buffs to original Supers.
