Bundespolizei Launches Weekend Station Sweep With Weapons Ban at Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof

The crackdown targets sustained violence at rail hubs through reinforced patrols alongside targeted controls.

Overview

  • From Friday to Sunday, Nov. 14–16, federal police are deploying increased personnel at more than ten major stations, including Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen and Hannover.
  • Essen and Dortmund are flagged as recurring hotspots where conflicts often involve alcohol or drugs and escalate with knives or other dangerous objects.
  • Nuremberg’s main station is under a temporary weapons-carry ban from Nov. 14 at 15:00 to Nov. 16 at 03:00 covering knives, pepper sprays and striking tools, with exemptions for emergency services and legitimate work needs.
  • Station units are reinforced by Bundesbereitschaftspolizei with coordinated checks conducted in partnership with Deutsche Bahn and state police forces.
  • A similar operation in October checked about 11,000 people, led to more than 230 proceedings and 23 warrant arrests, while early results this weekend include the arrest of a wanted violent offender in Leipzig and a fine for a knife violation.
