Bulega Sets Magny-Cours FP2 Lap Record to Lead Friday at French WorldSBK

The Ducati rider targets stronger used-tyre rear grip to turn qualifying speed into race-long pace.

Overview

  • Nicolo Bulega topped FP2 with a 1:35.428, breaking Garrett Gerloff’s 2023 Magny-Cours benchmark.
  • Bulega’s best lap was roughly four tenths quicker than championship leader Toprak Razgatlioglu in the afternoon session.
  • Bulega said rear grip on used tyres remains his main weakness and the focus for overnight setup work.
  • Razgatlioglu attributed the FP2 gap to not fitting a fresh rear tyre as he ran a race simulation in the low 1:36s with two laps in the 1:35s.
  • The title picture is unchanged with Bulega 26 points behind Razgatlioglu and four rounds remaining, at a circuit where the BMW rider is typically strong.
