Overview

• Gopal Ji convicted five individuals of murder under IPC section 302 for the deaths of SHO Subodh Kumar Singh and a civilian, and found 33 others guilty of rioting and attempted murder.
• Police initially named 60 suspects but framed charges against 44, of whom five died during the trial and one was tried separately as a juvenile, leaving 38 to be convicted on July 29.
• Alleged instigator Yogesh Raj, now a district panchayat member supported by the BJP, was convicted of rioting and is among 34 convicts released on bail.
