Buffy the Vampire Slayer Revival Nears Pilot Order with Sarah Michelle Gellar Returning

Hulu is reportedly close to greenlighting a reboot of the cult classic, with Gellar reprising her role and Chloé Zhao directing the pilot.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to return as Buffy Summers in a potential reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.
Chloé Zhao, known for Nomadland and Marvel's Eternals, is confirmed to direct the pilot, with writing by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
Gellar, also an executive producer on the project, emphasized the importance of getting the revival right and addressed fans’ long-standing calls for the series’ return.
Original cast members, including David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter, have expressed support for the project, though their involvement remains unconfirmed.
The reboot will reportedly blend new talent with elements of the original series, but creator Joss Whedon will not be involved due to past controversies.
