Overview

• Filming on the Buffy reboot pilot has commenced in Los Angeles under Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao with writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman at the helm.
• Sarah Michelle Gellar is executive producing and will recur as Buffy Summers to mentor new Slayer Nova, played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, with no involvement from original creator Joss Whedon.
• Chase Sui Wonders joins the pilot in a one-off guest role as vampire Shirley alongside series regulars Faly Rakatohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Merrin Dungey and Kingston Vernes.
• Leaked on-set photos reveal an event called “Sunnydale’s Vampire Weekend,” confirming the revival will reintroduce Sunnydale and its Hellmouth as central to the story.
• Hulu and its production partners have filmed the pilot but have yet to greenlight a full series order based on its reception.
