Overview
- The City of Buenos Aires will host readings, public activities and literary tributes to Jorge Luis Borges from August 19 through 25.
- On August 22 the Biblioteca Nacional inaugurates “Infinita veneración, infinita lástima,” marking the 80th anniversary of El Aleph and running until May 2026.
- The exhibition will display original manuscripts, illustrations and audiovisual materials that trace the story’s creation, reception and influence.
- Public programming includes a book drop at Catedral station and a poetic tertulia featuring readings by Graciela Borges, Leonardo Oyola and Mariela Blanco.
- A foundation managed by María Kodama’s family will hold a reading tertulia and commemorative toast on Borges’s birthday and sources differ on whether he was born on August 23 or August 24, 1899.
