Buenos Aires Rail Upgrades Halt Mitre’s Tigre Branch, Curb Other Services Through Oct. 13

The shutdowns sit within a 24‑month modernization under the national rail emergency, with Trenes Argentinos directing passengers to alternatives.

Overview

  • The Mitre line’s Tigre branch is fully suspended from Friday, Oct. 10, to Monday, Oct. 13, for track renewal between Maldonado and Tigre, including major works at Núñez and Beccar with signaling, third-rail and fiber-optic upgrades.
  • José León Suárez and Bartolomé Mitre branches run only between their outer terminals and Belgrano R during the same period due to works modernizing train access to Retiro, so trains will not reach the terminal.
  • On the Roca line, Constitución–La Plata services operate only to Villa Elisa on Friday and Saturday for track replacement between Tolosa and La Plata, with services expected to normalize on Sunday after weather-led rescheduling.
  • In Morón, the Belgrano street level crossing is closed until Oct. 27 as part of a comprehensive station renovation, with traffic detoured via the Casullo underpass.
  • These interventions are funded under Decreto 525/2024’s Emergency Ferroviaria plan, with Trenes Argentinos warning schedules may change for weather and flagging another planned Mitre suspension for Nov. 21–24.
