Buenos Aires Province Sets 21.8% VTV Increase Effective January 16, 2026

The transport ministry formalized the adjustment through Resolution 369 using a wage‑linked pricing formula tied to the latest CAVEA–SMATA agreement.

Overview

  • The basic inspection for vehicles up to 2,500 kg will cost $97,057.65 with VAT starting January 16, 2026.
  • The new schedule sets motos at $38,801.03, vehicles over 2,500 kg at $174,604.64, and trailers up to or over 2,500 kg at $58,201.54 and $87,302.33.
  • Concessionary operators requested the update in November, and the file was cleared by the Asesoría General de Gobierno, Fiscalía de Estado, and Contaduría General.
  • Under the regulatory formula, the fee equals 7% of a category‑1 VTV plant operator’s salary based on the latest CAVEA–SMATA bargaining round.
  • VTV is a mandatory periodic inspection for PBA vehicles—generally after two years of age or 60,000 km—and noncompliance can lead to fines.
