Buenos Aires Province Opens Free Dengue Vaccination to Ages 15–59 Starting Sept. 15

The province expanded access after purchasing 500,000 Qdenga doses, using online registration to assign free appointments across 135 municipal sites.

Overview

  • Eligibility now includes all residents aged 15 to 59 regardless of prior dengue infection, with no medical order required.
  • Registration runs through Mi Salud Digital, and appointment confirmations are sent by email for vaccination at sites throughout the province.
  • Authorities will initially issue 22,100 appointments to people who had registered in the first stage but were outside the previous target group.
  • Qdenga is approved by ANMAT for ages 4 to 59 and is given in two doses three months apart, and it is not part of the national immunization schedule.
  • Experts advise waiting six months after a dengue infection before vaccination and note that post-shot side effects are typically mild and brief, while officials also urge household measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
