Buenos Aires Province Enacts 21.8% VTV Fee Increase; Standard Car Inspection Now ARS 97,057

Officials say the tariff updates are automatically tied to mechanics’ wage agreements, with the VTV set at 7% of a SMATA base salary.

  • The new VTV prices took effect on January 16 across all categories after the provincial executive formalized the 21.8% increase.
  • Updated rates with VAT include motorcycles at ARS 38,823, passenger vehicles up to 2,500 kg at ARS 97,057.65, and heavy vehicles over 2,500 kg at ARS 174,703.77.
  • Trailers and semi-trailers now cost ARS 58,234.59 for units up to 2,500 kg and ARS 87,351.89 for heavier units.
  • The inspection remains mandatory for private cars and motorcycles registered in the province that are over two years old or exceed 60,000 km, and it applies to commercial vehicles.
  • Exemptions cover municipal-use vehicles, fire departments, and owners with disabilities, while failure to have a valid VTV can draw fines of 300–1,000 Unidades Fijas, currently up to ARS 1,807,000.
