Buenos Aires Province and City Raise Tuition Caps for Subsidized Private Schools in September

Education officials attribute the updates to teacher pay increases negotiated this year under national financing rules.

  • In the City of Buenos Aires, caps for jornada simple span $36,839 to $170,411 in initial and primary, $40,638 to $221,473 in secondary, and $46,807 to $253,496 in technical and special education.
  • AIEPA estimates the adjustment affects nearly two million students across more than 5,000 subsidized institutes in the province and about 300 in the city.
  • The provincial teacher wage pact totals 5% in two tranches—2.5% in August and a similar increase in October—and the city’s resolution cites National Decrees 2542/91 and 2417/93.
