Buenos Aires Operates on Holiday Schedules for Dec. 8 Immaculate Conception

Emergency care remains 24/7 as transport, parking and city services follow reduced hours and special rules.

Overview

  • Subway and Premetro service runs from 8:00 to 22:00, and AMBA buses and trains operate on holiday frequencies with longer intervals than a typical weekday.
  • Hospital emergency rooms and critical areas stay open around the clock, while external clinics (CeSAC and CEMAR) are closed and only urgent surgeries proceed.
  • Metered parking is suspended and parking is allowed on normally restricted avenues and streets from 7:00 to 21:00, with bans maintained in passageways, Metrobús corridors, shared streets and lanes next to bike paths.
  • City waste collection operates normally; cemetery interments in Chacarita, Flores and Recoleta run 7:30–14:00 with last paperwork at 13:00 and final burial starting at 13:30, and the Civil Registry keeps only a deaths guard reported as 8:00–12:00 by one outlet and 9:00–12:00 by another.
  • City-run museums open 11:00–20:00 and the Torre Monumental 10:00–18:00, the Planetarium is closed, and in the wider region Santa Fe’s municipal offices are closed with normal trash pickup and buses on Sunday schedules.
