Overview
- The city opened registration on Thursday, August 20, 2026, so eligible private workshops, official dealers and importers can now apply to run VTV/VTO services through Trámites a Distancia or by the temporary contact channel the government published.
- Applicants must submit a sworn statement, prove they have required facilities and equipment, and appoint a licensed engineer as technical director before the Secretaría de Transporte has 30 calendar days to review each file and automatically register it if there are no objections.
- Under the new rules inspection prices are liberalized so each authorized provider will set its own fee, while centers must upload inspection data, issue a digital certificate and a windshield sticker, and face later audits and controls.
- The inspection timetable for new private cars changes: first check for 0 km vehicles moves to five years after registration, then inspections have two-year validity until the vehicle reaches ten years of age.
- The opening follows national Resolución 32/2026 and local law N°6963 that ended the old concentrated-plant model, the rollout will be phased with platform access from early September, and observers say price dispersion and enforcement of technical standards are key risks to monitor.
