Overview
- The 42nd Buenos Aires International Marathon will start at 07:00 on Sunday, Sept. 20 from Avenida Figueroa Alcorta and Dorrego with a record 16,384 registered runners from 64 countries.
- Organizers confirmed a deep elite field of more than 20 top marathoners, including Bethwel Kibet Chumba, Felix Kiptoo Kirwa and Deribe Robi Melka, with several athletes holding personal bests under 2:07.
- Race logistics are finalized: kit pickup at the Expo (Parque Sarmiento/Parque Roca), bibs printed with each runner's name and national flag, ID and Ticketear QR required for collection, and staggered corrals with a six‑hour cut‑off.
- The city will deploy an early traffic plan with partial street closures from 04:00 and full closures on main avenues from 06:00 that will affect access to central arteries and the Illia motorway during the event.
- The event keeps its World Athletics Label and leans on a 2:05 course record from 2019 to market itself as Latin America's fastest marathon while new Premios Estímulo Ñandú will send the top two Argentine non‑elite runners under 25 to a European race next year, boosting local development and tourism.
