Buenos Aires Marathon Confirms Elite Field for Sold-Out Sept. 21 Race

Elite contenders from Ethiopia, Kenya headline a sold-out 42k with heavy international turnout.

  • Asociación Ñandú will stage the race with start and finish at Avenida Figueroa Alcorta y Dorrego, with a 7 a.m. start using wave releases.
  • About 15,000 runners are registered, roughly 30% are from abroad, and more than 1,500 participants are arriving from Brazil through sports-travel packages.
  • Tour operator Sub4 Turismo Esportivo expects to bring over 100 Brazilian runners after advance package sales.
  • The elite lineup features Fikre Bekele Tefera, Abay Alemu Lesa and Amos Kiprotich Kiplagat for the men, with Bone Cheluke Wedesa, Emebet Niguse Mamo and Maritu Ketema Gutema leading the women.
  • Kit pickup runs at Parque Sarmiento on Sept. 19–20 with specified hours and QR plus ID requirements, and the certified course spans Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano, Avenida 9 de Julio, the Obelisco, Casa Rosada, Puerto Madero and the River Plate and Boca Juniors stadiums.
