Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and Rosario Switch On Holiday Lights Tonight

Municipal plans pair the lightings with concerts, markets and extended displays that run through early January.

Overview

  • Buenos Aires kicks off with a live broadcast at 8:30 p.m., a student-led switch-on, Fer Dente performing holiday classics, and a Misa Criolla led by Lito Vitale with Abel Pintos, Nahuel Pennisi and Maggie Cullen.
  • Mar del Plata’s Plaza San Martín program starts at 7 p.m. with the Orquesta Infanto Juvenil, the Naval Base band, the Guardia del Mar and choirs, with the tree lighting scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
  • To host the Mar del Plata event, the municipality cleared streets from early morning, imposed traffic cuts from 1 p.m. to midnight, and announced detours for multiple bus lines.
  • Rosario’s lighting at Oroño and Pellegrini begins at 7 p.m. with music by Fabián Gallardo and The Pirata’s, with the switch-on targeted for 8:30 p.m., and street closures from 4 p.m. into the early hours plus city bus diversions until 3 a.m.
  • Seasonal offerings include family markets, food trucks, Papá Noel visits and letter drop boxes, while additional trees and ornaments across Rosario and other venues remain on view until January 6.
