Overview
- City officials set a two-year target for 400 charging points, evenly split between 200 in private public-access sites and 200 in public spaces.
- Companies will finance, install, operate and bill for chargers, while the City tenders use of public space, sets standards and collects a canon.
- All chargers must display real-time availability via apps, with minimum power levels of 7 kW AC in private public-access locations and 22 kW in the public way, with DC options allowed.
- Public chargers can be placed only on sidewalks of non-emblematic parks and plazas or in front of public buildings and commercial premises, capped at two positions per block and barred from roadway installation.
- The rollout follows national authorization for 50,000 electrified vehicle imports per year and a local network of only about 42–50 private stations, with permits, coordination with distributors and tariff setting remaining outside the City’s control.
