Buenos Aires Half Marathon Set for Sunday With 27,000 Runners and Kiplimo Headlining

Drivers face widespread morning closures across key avenues due to the 8 a.m. start from Figueroa Alcorta and Dorrego.

Overview

  • The 36th edition, a World Athletics Label Race, begins at 8:00 a.m. Sunday and returns to its start/finish on Av. Figueroa Alcorta at Dorrego.
  • The 21.097 km course passes Recoleta, Teatro Colón, the Obelisk on Av. 9 de Julio, Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada before looping back through Palermo.
  • World record holder Jacob Kiplimo leads a deep elite field that includes Seifu Tura and top Kenyan contenders, with observers watching for a possible course-record challenge.
  • Traffic measures include a full closure of Av. Figueroa Alcorta between Dorrego and Julio Argentino Noble from Saturday afternoon to Sunday 4 p.m., Illia ramp closures 5 a.m.–noon, and rolling cuts on major downtown corridors 8 a.m.–noon.
  • Race operations feature corrals and a three-hour time limit, hydration every 2.5 km from km 5 with bananas at km 10, free parking with registration QR on Figueroa Alcorta from 5:30–6:45 a.m., and Telepase-free passage at city tolls for participants.
