Overview
- The city awarded the concession to a temporary union of Autotransportes Andesmar SA and Da Fre Obras Civiles SA after they were the only bidder to meet all criteria in licitación 0002-0614-LPU25.
- The consortium will pay an initial monthly canon of 26.1 million pesos and may charge up to 20,000 pesos per visitor for elevator rides to the 62-meter-high mirador.
- The operator assumes full responsibility for elevator maintenance, structural upkeep, ticketing operations including digital sales, and the installation of visitor reception zones and merchandising outlets.
- The public elevator, inaugurated in April, transports up to four people to 55.55 meters in under a minute before a final 35-step ascent, replacing a closed 206-step climb and requiring no alterations to the monument’s exterior.
- The concession forms part of Buenos Aires’s broader strategy to revitalize historic landmarks through public-private partnerships and generate new tourism revenue streams.
