Buenos Aires Formalizes Proyecta PBA to Let Secondary Students Train for Trades

The program creates a three-stage pathway linking 4th–6th year students to provincial training centers so they can earn vocational certifications that carry credit within the professional training system.

Overview

  • The Dirección General de Cultura y Educación formalized Proyecta PBA with Joint Resolution 4606/2026 published Tuesday in the provincial Official Gazette, giving the program legal footing and the signatures of provincial education authorities.
  • The curriculum is a progressive three-stage pathway that begins with a 36-hour Módulo de Orientación Profesional and continues with initial and continuous vocational proposals that have weekly class loads of 8–10 hours and one required in-person day.
  • Modules and certified hours earned by students will retain validity inside the provincial Formación Profesional system, enabling recognition of credits and progression toward further certifications.
  • Implementation falls to provincial directorates, regional and district offices and Centres for Vocational Training, which may allocate up to 10% of their available teaching hours to the program and must set local agreements on schedules, safety and accreditation.
  • Authorities project roughly 4,000 students in 2026 with expansion plans for about 6,000 students per cycle and over 400 vocational tracks in 2027, a move officials say aims to improve social inclusion, local job access and the school-to-work transition without replacing secondary education.
