Buenos Aires Closes Line A’s Congreso Station for Three-Month Renovation Starting Monday

SBASE says the upgrade targets leaks to modernize accessibility, lighting and signage across the station.

Overview

  • The temporary shutdown is part of SBASE’s Plan de Renovación Integral de Estaciones to improve station infrastructure and passenger experience.
  • Works include waterproofing through injection and joint treatment, full floor replacement, LED lighting, updated signage with braille, and new platform furniture such as benches, bins and ischiatic supports.
  • The closure joins ongoing remodels at Río de Janeiro and Loria on Line A, Carlos Gardel and Uruguay on Line B, and Plaza Italia and Agüero on Line D.
  • SBASE indicates the rest of Line A will continue operating normally during the refurbishment of Congreso.
  • Upcoming projects include Piedras (A), Malabia (B) and Tribunales (D), with tenders active for Medrano and Ángel Gallardo (B), Lavalle and Independencia (C), and General Urquiza and Entre Ríos (E).
