Overview
- ENRE confirmed a peak of roughly 1,085,000 users without electricity between about 1:30 and 4:00 a.m. after the New Year’s Eve outage.
- Edesur reported a failure at the Bosques substation that propagated to other nodes, with restorations carried out in stages and more than half of affected customers recovered overnight.
- By the morning of January 1, about 12,000 to 13,000 users in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area still lacked service, and thousands spent New Year’s without power.
- The heaviest impacts were recorded in southern conurbation districts such as Lomas de Zamora, Avellaneda, Quilmes, Berazategui and Florencio Varela, and in city neighborhoods including Almagro, Recoleta, Parque Patricios, Flores and Constitución.
- ENRE said cables and transformers were operating above nominal capacity and noted 108 sanctions against Edenor and Edesur in 2025 totaling ARS 53,750 million as crews continue field repairs and monitoring.
