Buddy Holly Wins Best in Show at 147th Westminster Dog Show, First Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen to Claim Top Prize
- Buddy Holly, a six-year-old petit basset griffon Vendéen from Palm Springs, California, was named Best in Show.
- Buddy Holly beat six other finalists, including crowd favorites Winston the French bulldog and Rummie the Pekingese, to earn the prestigious title.
- The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the second oldest continuously held sporting event in the U.S. and featured over 3,000 dogs from 210 breeds and varieties this year.
- The show was held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, for the first time this year due to the pandemic.
- In addition to Best in Show, the event includes multiple competitions where mixed breed dogs are also invited to compete.
